If you remember, the College Kids Talking College Sports podcast team held a dream league basketball season, using college players from the most recent season. Aidan Thomas ran the simulator, while Nathaniel Lapoint, Cal Christoforo, and Andrew DeGeorge drafted teams to clash in pool play and then the playoffs. Ultimately, compiling a 9-3 overall record, DeGeorge ran away with the title, winning the championship series 3-1 over Lapoint.
It’s now time for us to continue the series, picking the NCAA Football dream teams, and competing once more in a league. Yesterday, the boys held their draft, so, with the league getting ready to kick off once more, here is a brief preview of our competing teams.

For Cal, after finishing last in the basketball dream league, it was determined that his punishment would be to draft a kicker in the first round. Despite this, he pulled off a very solid draft, headlined by his loaded backfield. Chuba Hubbard and Jonathan Taylor are his studs, and De’Andre Swift is an excellent complement. He will likely decide between Trevor Lawrence and Tua to be under center, but Malcolm Perry is an intriguing option, if Cal considers the triple option to be a viable source of offense. Cal didn’t take a receiver until the sixth round, so this may be the weak point of his offense, but he does have some great talent in Jefferson and Pittman. Given his draft priorities, don’t be surprised if Cal’s team tries to ride a ground-and-pound style to the championship. With the Ohio State defense limiting opposing offenses, this clock-controlling method could be an effective one, as Cal looks to reverse his fortunes from his previous dream league season.

Andrew enters this league hoping to defend his title, and he surprised nobody by taking Jalen Hurts, who everyone knows is his favorite quarterback, with his first pick at third overall. He added Fields as a capable second option, within the first ten rounds. He waited later to draft his backfield but ended up with arguably two of the top three backs entering the 2020 season in Etienne and Harris, while Dobbins looks to be his workhorse. He drafted eight receivers and three tight ends, but there is questions as to who will step up besides CeeDee Lamb in that group, so we’ll see if that works out for Andrew. He made an interesting call to grab LSU’s championship defense, which he hopes will bring him to another title.

“Why do I need running backs, if I have Joe Burrow?” We’ll see how Nathaniel’s bold approach of strictly prioritizing an air-raid attack goes, as he loaded up with Burrow, Ruggs, Jeudy, Higgins, and Mims leading the way. His running back room is solid, but he lacks the star back that Andrew and Cal feature, as he may feature a by-committee style in the backfield with Hillaire, Dillon, and Akers. Herbert is a solid back-up choice, while Hopkins can come in to try and help close things out on the ground. Bowden is listed as a quarterback, but Nathaniel will probably try to use the third-round draft pick in all facets of his offense. With 9 of his 22 picks coming out of the SEC East, including his entire defense and special teams, and a total of 14 SEC picks made, Nathaniel hopes his reliance on the best conference in college football will bring him the title, but he likely enters as the underdog in this league.
